Job description and responsibilities
Mechanical- Mechatronics Engineering study program at EIU invites applications for the lecturer position in Mechatronics Engineering. The key responsibilities comprise teaching and instruction, curriculum development, student support and mentorship, research and development, professional development and administrative and other duties.
The candidate is expected to contribute to comprehensive teaching activities, including preparing and delivering lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions on a wide range of mechatronics engineering topics such as embedded systems, robotics, sensors and actuators, control systems, industrial automation, and system integration; developing and regularly updating course materials including syllabi, assignments, and assessments, and examinations and using innovative teaching methods and technologies to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
In terms of curriculum development, candidates will design and update course content that reflects the evolving fields of mechatronics, intelligent systems, and industry trends; and collaborate with faculty members to develop interdisciplinary programs and research initiatives.
Regarding student support and mentorship, the candidate is requested to provide academic guidance and career counseling to students; supervise undergraduate research projects and theses; foster a supportive learning environment that encourages students’ academic and professional growth.
The candidate is also expected to contribute to the development of the School of Engineering in terms of conducting research in specialized areas of mechatronics engineering and publishing findings in reputable journals and conferences, seeking funding opportunities and collaborating on research projects with industry partners and academic institutions. Besides that, the candidate is requested to improve themselves through updating on advancements in mechatronics engineering and integrating them into teaching and research activities; and attending and presenting at academic conferences, workshops, and seminars.
Besides that, you will do the administrative work and other duties by participating in departmental meetings, committees, and accreditation activities; assisting in organizing academic events, workshops, and guest lectures; and contributing to community outreach programs and promoting the mechatronics engineering discipline.

Preferred qualifications and skills
- MSc. or Ph.D. in Mechatronics Engineering or a closely related field.
- Proven teaching or industry experience in mechatronics engineering.
- Strong expertise in specific areas of mechatronics engineering, such as robotics, embedded systems, industrial automation, integrated systems, control theory, machine vision, or intelligent systems.
- Proven excellent English speaking and writing skills.
- Proficiency in engineering software tools like SolidWorks, AutoCAD, MATLAB, LabVIEW, PLC programming, ROS, or Python/C++ for embedded programming.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct impactful research.

EIU School of Engineering
With the mission of training in mechanical engingeering, electrical engineering, electronics and telecommunications, mechatronics, control engineering and automation, School of Engineering (SoE) at EIU offers students an excellent learning environment with new technologies, up-to-date and well-designed course work and curriculum, creative undergraduate research projects and practical experiences in the laboratories with modern equipments. The study programs are designed with a high ratio of experiential learning and practical application based on a system of 15 state-of-the-art laboratories and 5 centers, including the Advanced Manufacturing Center, the Industry 4.0 Innovation Center, the EIU-Sembcorp Sustainable Solutions Center, FabLab (Fabrication Laboratory), Electronics – Semiconductor – Telecommunication Center. Students with a minimum score of IELTS 6.0 are required to graduate from the SoE programs in 4 years through a wide range of courses in general education and specialized subjects. The first 2 years are focused on basic knowledge in critical thinking and problem solving which prepare students for advanced courses, while the last 2 years provide specialized courses for research, capstone projects, and internships to develop further skills for employment at local and regional industries.
