Job Description and Responsibilities:

Electrical Engineering (EE) department at EIU invites applications for the lecturer position in Electrical Engineering. The key responsibilities include teaching activities, scientific research and community service.

The candidate is expected to contribute to comprehensive teaching activities including preparing and delivering lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions on various electrical engineering areas such as power systems, renewable energy systems, power electronic, smart grids; developing and updating course materials, including syllabi, assignments, and examinations to ensure it remains current with industry trends and advancements in Electrical Engineering.

The total minimum teaching workload is 280 hours per academic year. The candidate is also requested to provide teaching activities such as promoting active learning and experiential learning methods, developing and evaluating a broad range of courses within the area of expertise for the existing and new study programs in coordination with the program coordinator.

Regarding student support and mentorship, the candidate is requested to provide academic guidance and career counseling to students; supervise undergraduate research projects and theses; foster a supportive learning environment that encourages students’ academic and professional growth.

The candidate is also expected to contribute to the development of the School of Engineering in terms of generating externally funded research projects, scientific publications, and industry
collaborations, per discussions and mutual agreement with the Dean.

Besides that, candidates will also do administrative work and other duties in term of community service by participating in departmental meetings, committees, and accreditation activities;
assisting in organizing academic events, workshops, and guest lectures; and contributing to community outreach programs and promoting the electrical engineering discipline.

Preferred qualifications

  • Candidates must hold a Master or Doctor (preferred) degree in Electrical Engineering or related fields from well-known reputable international universities.
  • Having scientific publications in reputable conferences and journals in areas such as power electronics, renewable energy systems, power systems, and smart grids.
  • The candidate must have proven excellent English speaking and writing skills.
  • The demonstrated ability to obtain funding for research projects is highly valued.
  • Proficiency in engineering software tools such as MATLAB, AutoCAD Electrical, OrCAD.

EIU School of Engineering

With the mission of training in Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunications, Control Engineering and Automation, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, School of Engineering (SoE) at EIU offers students an excellent learning environment with new technologies, up-to-date and well-designed course work and curriculum, creative undergraduate research projects and practical experiences in modern laboratories.
