ThS Bùi Thanh Phượng hoàn thành chương trình Thạc sĩ Khoa học Kế toán và Quản lý Tài chính tại Đại học Keele (Vương quốc Anh) với kết quả Distinction và danh hiệu Thủ khoa đầu ra, sau khi tốt nghiệp Cử nhân Quản trị Kinh doanh (chuyên ngành Tài chính) tại Trường Đại học Quốc tế Miền Đông. Hiện nay, cô là nghiên cứu sinh Tiến sĩ Khoa học Quản lý (chuyên ngành Kế toán) tại Đại học Keele.
Cô hiện công tác với vai trò giảng viên Kế toán và Tài chính tại Khoa Quản trị Kinh doanh. Trong giảng dạy, cô phụ trách các học phần thuộc lĩnh vực kế toán, tài chính và phương pháp nghiên cứu, hướng dẫn đồ án/capstone project, đồng thời tham gia phát triển chương trình đào tạo và các hoạt động học thuật của khoa. Song song đó, cô tham gia giảng dạy bán thời gian tại Keele Business School (Vương quốc Anh), tích lũy kinh nghiệm giảng dạy trong môi trường giáo dục đại học quốc tế.
Hướng nghiên cứu của cô tập trung vào kế toán bền vững, quản trị doanh nghiệp, ESG, công bố thông tin và hiệu quả hoạt động doanh nghiệp. Các công trình nghiên cứu đã được công bố trên các tạp chí quốc tế uy tín thuộc danh mục Scopus và Web of Science, xếp hạng theo CABS và ABDC, với trọng tâm phân tích vai trò của quản trị doanh nghiệp và chiến lược tổ chức trong việc thúc đẩy các Mục tiêu Phát triển Bền vững của Liên Hợp Quốc (UN SDGs), đặc biệt trong bối cảnh các nền kinh tế mới nổi.
