The study program is built by the EIU School of Nursing’s lecturers with suggestions and criticisms from Dr. Turner (University of Minnesota – USA) – an executive committee member of the American Nurses Association. The program has received feedback from experienced nursing lecturers at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City.
The curriculum is designed to align with the national framework of the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Health, in accordance with the Competency Standards for Vietnam Nurses, issued together with Decision No. 1352/QD -BYT, April 24, 2012 by the Ministry of Health to meet Asia Pacific and ASEAN requirements. This makes it convenient to compare with other countries’ nursing competency standards.
Students who complete the Bachelor of Nursing program at EIU have opportunities to work in public and private healthcare organizations, especially international hospitals in Vietnam and abroad.
At EIU, nursing students are trained to master professional knowledge, obtain professional skills, and apply relevant skills as well as the ability to use English to comprehensively meet requirements for patients/customers care and self-development.
✔ Students are trained in English at the Foreign Language Center to ensure that 100% of students will achieve a minimum IELTS band 6.0 before graduation.
✔ More than 50% of the Nursing program duration at EIU is for pre-clinical practice at the University’s laboratories, hospitals, and healthcare facilities.
👉 From the first year, the University will organize practical experience sessions at Becamex International Hospital so that the new students can have an overview of the hospital environment; learn about the nursing management system, hospital departments; observe the organization and works of nursing staff at the hospital; and learn communication skills to serve patients and their family members.
👉 From year 2 to year 3, students practice nursing skills at the primary medical laboratories and preclinical practice rooms at the university.
👉 Students in the 4th and 5th years are arranged to get clinical internships at medical organizations such as Binh Duong General Hospital, Becamex International Hospital, Children’s Hospital No. 1 in Ho Chi Minh City, and other healthcare facilities.
✔ Students study and improve their skills in experimental rooms and laboratories with modern equipment and facilities, including:
👉 Medical laboratory facilities such as physiology-pathology lab, microbiology-parasitism lab, biochemistry lab, and anatomy practice room.
👉 The pre-clinical practice room is designed like a treatment unit at a hospital, fully equipped with models and equipment for students to practice from basic to advanced nursing skills for children care, adult care and respiratory-circulatory (CPR) emergency.
After graduation, EIU nursing students have diverse career opportunities and can choose from a variety of suitable and potential job positions such as nurses at domestic and foreign medical facilities; working for medical training institutions. In addition, they can also study in-depth specialties such as Operation Theatre, Otolaryngology, Cardiology, Emergency…, and pursue postgraduate levels to improve qualifications at domestic and foreign training institutions with higher levels like Specialization One, , Master, Ph.D.
