That is the central theme of the 2024 Eastern International University Scientific Conference (EIUSC 2024), which took place today (December 25) at Eastern International University (EIU).
EIUSC is an annual event organized by EIU, and this year marks the third conference since its inception in 2022. EIUSC 2024 attracted over 200 researchers, lecturers, specialists, and students from the university, as well as guests from universities and hospitals, including Keele University (United Kingdom), the University of Economics – University of Danang, Ho Chi Minh City University of Information Technology, Cho Ray Hospital, Becamex International Hospital, and others
In his opening speech, Dr. Ngo Minh Duc, President of EIU, stated: “In 2024, we face pressing issues related to sustainable development, such as climate change, resource depletion, healthcare, education, and environmental protection. Under the theme ‘Promoting Sustainability and Community Development through Interdisciplinary Research,’ the conference underscores the importance of interdisciplinary research in fully utilizing the knowledge, tools, and methodologies specific to each discipline. This approach fosters creativity, opens new avenues, and contributes to integrated, effective, and comprehensive solutions.

The conference featured three main sessions, including: the Plenary Session, Specialized Subcommittee Sessions, and the Poster Presentation Session. These sessions focused on major topics such as Economics, Business and Management; Engineering; Information Technology; Health Sciences; University Governance, and other related themes.

During the Plenary Session, Dr. Akrum Helfaya from Keele University shared insights on the topic “Climate Action: Reshaping the Future”. In his presentation, Dr. Helfaya discussed various aspects of climate change, such as what climate change is, why it matters, who cares about climate change, and what actions we can take to address it.
Following the program, Dr. Ly Duy Khiem, Director of the Smart Operation Center of Becamex IDC Corporation, delivered a presentation on the topic “Sustainable Development of Industrial Parks and Urban Areas”. He emphasized that Becamex IDC Corporation has been, and will continue to, steer the development of industrial parks towards being green and smart, thereby enhancing their appeal to investors. Specifically, in recent years, Becamex IDC Corporation has implemented green transformation initiatives at VSIP industrial parks, based on five core elements: clean energy, green coverage, symbiosis, smart governance on an IOC platform and digital transformation, as well as community and social infrastructure. Regarding green coverage, as of the end of 2024, Becamex IDC Corporation had planted approximately 540,000 trees. By 2025, the corporation plans to expand tree planting to nearly 1.2 million trees, bringing the total number of trees planted at VSIP industrial parks and other locations to over 2 million since before 2023.

Becamex IDC Corporation consistently prioritizes sustainable development, creating advantages for investors to implement ESG practices and achieve Net Zero goals. The corporation is a pioneer in collaborating with the World Bank to study and promote the development of Vietnam’s first Eco-Industrial Park (EIP) under the international EIP 2.0 framework established by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the World Bank, and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) – Director of Intelligent Operation Center of Becamex IDC Corporation shared.
During the Specialized Subcommittee Sessions and the Poster Presentation Session, the panel of reviewers, researchers, scientists, lecturers, and students delivered presentations and engaged in constructive discussions. This contributed to an atmosphere of lively academic exchange throughout the Conference.

The presented topics received valuable feedback and high recognition from the panel of reviewers, covering research themes, target audiences, objectives, and the urgency of the topics. Particularly, scientific integrity was strictly monitored by relevant stakeholders and specialized units, ensuring the credibility and success of EIUSC 2024.
In the afternoon, the Organizing Committee of EIUSC 2024 awarded certificates and prizes to the 10 best presentations and 6 outstanding posters. Additionally, qualifying papers will be selected for publication in the full conference proceedings (either printed or online with an ISBN)./.
