On May 13th, Eastern International University (EIU) hosted a meeting with two educational units from the National University of Singapore (NUS): the College of Design and Engineering (CDE) and the Institute of Systems Science (ISS).
The EIU delegation was led by Mr. Nguyễn Tấn Lợi, Chairman of the University Council, along with leaders from various schools and departments of the university.
Mr. Khoon Chan Meng, CEO of ISS shared insights at the program
Opening the session, Mr. Khoon Chan Meng, CEO of the Institute of Systems Science (ISS) at NUS, discussed with EIU’s functional department leaders the formation and development of ISS, its scale, and training programs. Highlighting ISS’s strengths, he noted that their programs impart advanced skills enabling professionals to work more efficiently and conduct effective research. Additionally, ISS programs are holistic, integrating technology, business, and critical thinking skills to create positive impacts in the digital economy.
Assoc. Prof. Chai Kah Hin highlighted NUS and CDE activities
Assoc. Prof. Chai Kah Hin, representing the College of Design and Engineering (CDE), provided insights into NUS’s prominent educational and research activities, particularly those of CDE. He emphasized that besides educational programs, CDE invests heavily in scientific research across various fields including architecture, design, engineering, climate change, health innovation, and AI.
Mr. Alexius Oh discussed EIU’s role in the Becamex Ecosystem
Tour of the Industry 4.0 Innovation Center
Following these presentations, Mr. Alexius Oh, Vice Director of the Vietnam-Singapore Innovation Center and Vice Director of Office of Community Engagement at EIU, discussed EIU’s role in supplying high-quality human resources to the Becamex ecosystem. He also introduced the Vietnam-Singapore Innovation Center and its affiliated units, such as the Sembcorp-EIU Centre for Sustainable Solutions , the Industry 4.0 Innovation Center (IIC), the Cyber Security Center, and the Advanced Manufacturing Center (AMC).
Dr. Lê Ngọc Huẩn, Director of the Industry 4.0 Innovation Center (IIC), highlighted the inherent strengths of EIU and the Innovation Center compared to the training and research directions of CDE and ISS. He suggested potential collaborative projects, such as using AI in predictive maintenance, digital twin technology, and AI applications.
