From October 20 to 21, the delegation from Eastern International University (EIU), led by Mr. Nguyen Tan Loi – Chairman of the University Council, visited and worked in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan. This trip opened up numerous opportunities for cooperation across various fields between EIU and strategic partners in Yamaguchi.
Continuing the Relationship Between Bình Dương Province and Yamaguchi Prefecture
In 2014, Binh Duong Province and Yamaguchi Prefecture signed an agreement to strengthen the friendly cooperative relationship between the two regions. Following this milestone, over the past 10 years, high-level delegations from both regions have visited each other, exchanged knowledge, and worked together. Additionally, Binh Duong has organized numerous investment promotion programs targeting Yamaguchi as well as Japan as a whole, aiming to attract major projects that contribute positively to the economy of Binh Duong. Notable companies involved include Panasonic, Toshiba, Foster Electric, Tokyu Corporation, Fujikura, and Aeon Mall Vietnam, among others.
On September 8, 2023, Binh Duong Province welcomed the leadership delegation from Yamaguchi Province, led by Mr. Muraoka Tsugumasa – Governor of Yamaguchi, during the event ‘Meeting Japan 2023,’ celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan.
Building on the success of this long-standing tradition, in September 2023, Bình Dương and Yamaguchi further strengthened their collaboration by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the field of Nursing, an essential area for sustainable development in Bình Dương. Furthermore, EIU has signed eight cooperation agreements and international agreements with Yamaguchi University, Yamaguchi Prefectural University, and YIC Rehabilitation College, promoting collaboration in areas such as English language training, nursing, engineering, and other exchange activities.
EIU’s Role in Training High-Quality Human Resources
Established in 2010, EIU has been providing high-quality human resources to meet the urgent needs for sustainable socio-economic development in Bình Dương. EIU also aims to become a center for scientific research, application, and technology transfer, driving economic development in the Southern Key Economic Region and throughout the country.
In 2025, EIU will celebrate its 15th anniversary. With its mission to train high-quality human resources in Bình Dương, EIU has been and will continue to implement its important strategic task for the region. Along this journey, in addition to education and research, EIU is expanding its cooperation in various fields, both domestically and internationally. With the goal of training high-quality human resources, including in the field of nursing, EIU places great importance on developing cooperation and academic exchanges with prestigious educational institutions both domestically and internationally. This offers faculty and students the opportunity to access advanced education systems. The recent trip to Yamaguchi Prefecture not only strengthened the cooperation between EIU and universities in Yamaguchi but also opened many future international exchange opportunities for both faculty and students.
To expand international cooperation and promote scientific research as well as student exchange programs, on September 22, 2023, EIU signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with YPU. According to the agreement, the two parties will implement the following programs: co-organizing and participating in seminars and sharing sessions related to Business Administration and Nursing; developing a recruitment program for YPU students to intern and work on projects at EIU’s nursing practice facilities; and promoting and supporting field trips and internships for students in both Vietnam and Japan.
Most recently, on June 18, 2024, EIU re-signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Faculty of Engineering at Yamaguchi University. This signing aims to sustain the implementation of the student exchange program, specifically, EIU will host international students from Yamaguchi University every year in February and August for short-term English language studies.
