Cyber Security Seminar 2025

On January 17, Eastern International University (EIU) and ARIS Japan jointly organized the seminar “Cyber Security 2025”

The event was attended by Mr. Yutaka Ueda – Director of ARIS Corporation Japan; Mr. Hiroki Saito – Chief Technology Officer of ARIS Corporation Japan; and Mr. Tran Tuan Nhat – CEO of ARIS Vietnam. On behalf of EIU, attendees included Mr. Alexius Oh – Vice Director of Office of Community Engagement; Dr. Phan Van Vinh – Representative of the EIU-ARIS Cyber Security Center, along with lecturers and students from the School of Computing and Information Technology, as well as representatives from several businesses in the province.

Mr. Alexius Oh – Vice Director of Office of Community Engagement – shared information about EIU with ARIS Corporation.

At the seminar, Mr. Hiroki Saito – Chief Technology Officer of ARIS Corporation – provided insights into the prominent cyber security trends of 2024 worldwide, particularly in Japan, the Asia-Pacific region, and Vietnam. He also shared case studies of ransomware attacks and targeted email attacks, analyzing their characteristics, methods, and objectives in detail. Furthermore, the ARIS CTO presented forecasts for 2025, including the projected number of cyberattacks, emerging trends, and the groups most at risk of becoming targets.

According to the Internet Crime Report 2023, published in 2024 by the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3), the total global losses caused by cyber crime in 2023 exceeded $12.5 billion, nearly doubling compared to 2021 within just two years. The number of reported cases increased by 3.8% compared to 2021, while total financial damages almost doubled, indicating a significant rise in average losses per incident,” Mr. Hiroki Saito shared.

EIU students actively engaged with ARIS experts, raising questions related to the seminar topics.

Following the program, in the discussion, experts of Aris Company and Lecturer of the School of Computing and Information Technology EIU had in -depth exchange revolving around the issue of cyber security in 2025. A key highlight was the discussion on how cybercriminals are expected to leverage artificial intelligence (AI) for new attack methods. One emerging threat projected for 2025 is data poisoning via AI. This involves cybercriminals continuously feeding false information into AI systems, causing them to learn and store inaccurate data. Once manipulated, AI could take uncontrollable actions such as disabling administrator privileges, modifying critical data, or even conducting eavesdropping, leading to severe risks for systems and users.
