Design Thinking for Professionals – Innovate EIU: Driving Growth through Design Thinking

After more than a month of implementation, today (January 9), the internal training course themed “Design Thinking for Professionals – Innovate EIU: Driving Growth through Design Thinking,” organized by the Office of Administration in collaboration with the Office of Community Engagement, has officially concluded. This event showcases EIU’s strong spirit of learning and innovation.

The training course attracted a large number of lecturers, specialists, and staff from various departments and centers within the university. The program was designed with two main components: a workshop and project presentations, providing participants with profound learning and practical application experiences.

Earlier, during the workshop, lecturers, specialists, and staff had the opportunity to gain valuable insights from Mr. Barnabas Chiang – Executive from the Office of Community Engagement. The workshop covered key aspects of Design Thinking, including an overview of its meaning and application in problem-solving, guidance on approaching real-life situations with creative thinking, and the various stages of Design Thinking.

Throughout the training process, participants engaged in highly interactive practical activities, which helped them better understand the Design Thinking model through illustrative examples and group exercises. Additionally, they developed problem-solving skills by focusing on analyzing actual needs within their departments and proposing effective, innovative solutions.

Today (January 9), during the project presentation session, departments and centers across the university presented their projects to the university’s leadership. These projects were developed based on existing real-world challenges faced by each unit, with proposed solutions utilizing the Design Thinking model. The presentations not only demonstrated a deep understanding of the core issues but also highlighted the creative and flexible application of the Design Thinking process – spanning the stages of Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test.
