Students from Nanyang Polytechnic with the second edition of the OELP program at EIU

Following the success of the first Overseas Exposure Learning Program (OELP) in early September 2024, from September 30 to October 4, students from Nanyang Polytechnic, Singapore (NYP) had an exciting experience with the second edition of the OELP program at EIU.

The OELP program is a unique exploration journey for NYP students and faculty in Vietnam. In addition to visiting leading companies in Binh Duong to learn about the production processes and business environments in Vietnam, and discovering Vietnamese culture through visits to historical sites, NYP students also participated in hands-on activities at EIU. One of the highlights of the program at EIU was a workshop on thinking techniques with the theme “Six Thinking Hats,” hosted by the University’s Community Connection Office.

NYP students shared: The “Six Thinking Hats” workshop, organized by the University’s Community Connection Office, was a very beneficial activity. The method is a simple yet highly effective tool in practice. When faced with a problem, this method helps students focus on different aspects of the issue and resolve them comprehensively.

After two editions at EIU, it is clear that the OELP program not only broadens the horizons and practical knowledge of international students but also fosters cultural exchange and educational cooperation between Vietnam and Singapore in general, as well as between EIU and NYP specifically. This opens up many opportunities for future academic and professional development between the two institutions.

Building on the strong partnership between EIU and NYP, the two institutions have organized many collaborative programs and exchanges, including internships for students in the engineering fields and professional training programs for faculty members in health-related fields. Notable examples include NYP students’ three-month internships at EIU from March to June 2024; and from March 20-24, 2023, EIU hosted a training program for nursing faculty, nurses from Becamex Hospital, and staff from the Medical Department at NYP, along with many other academic and research activities.
