The School of General Education trains students in fundamental knowledge during their first 2 years, so that they can enroll in Engineering and Bachelor majors in the following years.
Based on the University’s Educational Philosophy: Humanity – Community – Creativity – Sustainability, the School of General Education has defined the School’s Training Philosophy as Humanity – Foundation – Connection.
The School of General Education, based on our training philosophy, has designed the training programs in the following manner. The knowledge students learn at the School will become the foundation to study other subjects and capture both fundamental and specialized knowledge. Our curricula are closely connected and coherently designed as a unified whole in order to help the students graduate with good professional skills and solid knowledge. Therefore, students are able to practice in their trained profession, to self-study and self-research for further career development.
Currently, the School of General Education is responsible for the following subjects: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Political Theory, General Law, Social Sciences, Defense Education, and Physical Education. When eligible, the School will continue to implement the following subjects: Music and Foreign Languages (Japanese, Korean, Chinese, etc.). As for English, students will study at the EIU Language Center.
At the School of General Education, students will also have opportunities to get selective scientific courses or art courses, so that they can graduate with a Bachelor of Sciences degree and Bachelor of Arts degree.
