Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program at EIU invites applications for the lecturer position. The candidate should demonstrate expertise in the areas of Nursing.
Job Title: Nursing Lecturer
Position Summary:
The Nursing Lecturer is responsible for delivering high-quality education to nursing students, including lectures, practical demonstrations, clinical supervision, curriculum development, academic research, and student support. The role involves preparing future nurses with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required for professional practice
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching and Learning
- Plan, prepare, and deliver lectures, seminars, workshops, and tutorials in nursing and healthcare topics.
- Develop and update course materials, syllabi, lesson plans, and teaching resources.
- Use a variety of teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles (e.g., case-based learning, simulation).
- Assess student performance through assignments, exams, clinical evaluations, and presentations.
- Supervise student research projects and theses.
Clinical Supervision
- Organize and supervise students during clinical placements in hospitals or community settings.
- Ensure students follow professional standards, ethics, and safety protocols.
- Liaise with clinical staff to monitor student progress and learning outcomes.
Curriculum Development
- Participate in designing and reviewing nursing curricula to meet accreditation and industry standards.
- Incorporate current evidence-based practices and emerging healthcare trends.
Research and Scholarly Activities
- Conduct and publish academic or clinical research in the field of nursing.
- Attend conferences, workshops, and seminars to stay current and contribute to the nursing discipline.
- Apply for research grants and funding when applicable.
Student Support and Mentorship
- Advise and support students on academic, professional, and personal matters.
- Provide mentorship and guidance for career development in nursing.
Institutional Service
- Participate in departmental meetings, academic committees, and quality assurance activities.
- Contribute to the development of the faculty and university strategic goals.
Qualifications:
- A Master’s degree or PhD in Nursing or a related field.
- Registered Nurse license with clinical experience.
- Teaching qualification or certification (e.g., Postgraduate Certificate in Education) is often desirable.
- Prior teaching or training experience in a nursing or healthcare environment.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire students.
- Critical thinking and evidence-based decision-making.
- Familiarity with digital learning platforms and technology-enhanced teaching.
- Research and academic writing proficiency.
- Excellent English speaking and writing skills.
The teaching language for the BSN program is Vietnamese and English. The total minimum teaching workload is 280 hours per academic year..
