Dr Kang Seung Won is an applied economist whose research focuses on the application of economic theories and methods to international trade, global value chains, and industrial policy. In academia, he serves as a bridge between quantitative research and collaborative engagement with businesses and government agencies, aiming to generate research outcomes with strong practical relevance and impact.
His scholarly work centers on applied economics, with a strong emphasis on integrating theory and practice. His research incorporates input-output analysis, machine learning applications, and discrete choice models-particularly choice-based conjoint analysis-to examine global value chains, trade dynamics, and economic decision-making processes.
In teaching, Dr Kang Seung Won adopts a practice-oriented and interdisciplinary philosophy, placing quantitative techniques, data analytics, and modern information technology tools at the core of learning. Through collaboration with industry partners and the public sector, he develops courses that equip students with the competencies needed to address real-world economic challenges in data-driven and evidence-based decision-making contexts.
