Dr Cheah Kuan Yean has over 40 years of experience in hospitality and tourism management, with professional experience across multiple countries including Singapore, Malaysia, the United States, and Vietnam. His career spans key functional areas such as property pre-opening project implementation, operations, marketing, business management, and management consultancy within the service and hospitality sectors. Throughout his professional career, he has consistently met and exceeded operational performance targets, successfully delivered annual revenue and budget plans, and received numerous recognitions and awards from relevant professional bodies and institutions.
Dr Cheah Kuan Yean’s teaching philosophy emphasizes a strong integration of theory and practice by exposing students to real-world scenarios within the service and hospitality industry. By embedding practical operational contexts into theoretical frameworks and academic concepts, he enables learners to develop a deep understanding of the applied value of knowledge in relation to their future career pathways. He views teaching as a continuous learning journey, enriched through professional experience, scholarly reflection, and sustained engagement with the industry.
