Training Workshop in Preparation for the Second Cycle of Institutional Accreditation

On the morning of January 15, Eastern International University (EIU) organized a training workshop for all management staff, lecturers, and specialists in preparation for the upcoming second cycle of institutional accreditation.

At the workshop, Mr. Trần Hoài Bảo, MSc – Head of the Quality Assurance Office at EIU – presented to the university leadership and faculty the main components of EIU’s second-cycle Institutional Self-Assessment Report. His presentation covered key improvements from 2020 to 2024, a summary of the Self-Assessment Report, consolidated results across accreditation standards, important timelines, and proposed recommendations.

In terms of academic advancements during the 2020–2024 period, EIU launched three new programs: Economics (in 2023), Mechanical Engineering, and Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering (both in 2024). Furthermore, the university’s annual student enrollment increased steadily during this period—from over 400 new students in 2020 to nearly 1,000 in 2024, marking a 51.3% increase.

“In terms of quality assurance, EIU was awarded the Institutional Accreditation Certificate by the Center for Education Accreditation – Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City (CEA-VNUHCM) in April 2020. Notably, all 7 academic programs eligible for accreditation successfully met the quality standards under Circular No. 04/2016 by the Ministry of Education and Training in 2023 and 2024. Among these, 2 programs met 100% of the required criteria,” Mr. Bảo emphasized.

Mr. Trần Hoài Bảo also reported on the university’s achievements in research, infrastructure investment, university governance, international cooperation, and digital transformation, while also presenting suggestions and proposals for the future.

As part of the training, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lê Văn Hảo – Head of the Academic Excellence Division – shared with faculty and departments across the university insights into the preparation process for EIU’s second-cycle institutional accreditation. He highlighted the importance of thorough preparation, from the preliminary survey phase to the official assessment phase. His presentation not only clarified the procedures and requirements of the accreditation process but also offered practical and effective methods to ensure professional, precise, and comprehensive implementation.

Dr. Nguyễn Thanh Trọng – Vice President of EIU delivering concluding remarks

The training aimed to help university members prepare for the preliminary review on February 11, 2025, and the official assessment by the expert panel from February 24 to 28, 2025. Delivering closing remarks, Dr. Nguyễn Thanh Trọng – Vice President of EIU – expressed his hope that all participating faculty members would strive to fulfill their assigned responsibilities and overcome challenges to ensure tasks are completed on schedule.

He emphasized that this is not only an opportunity for EIU to reflect and comprehensively assess its strengths and areas for improvement, but also a foundation for developing a sustainable educational strategy. These efforts contribute to greater coherence in the higher education system and enhance public confidence in the quality of training at EIU in particular and in Vietnamese higher education in general.
