From June 1 to 4, 2025, a delegation of lecturers and staff from Eastern International University (EIU) participated in a Design Thinking training course held at Singapore Polytechnic (SP). The program is part of the international TF SCALE 2025 project, funded by Temasek Foundation (Singapore), aiming to foster educational collaboration, develop leadership capabilities, and promote the values of community engagement through advanced training methods across Asia.
EIU students engage in discussion with SP students
The TF SCALE (Temasek Foundation Specialists’ Community Action and Leadership Exchange) program, funded by Temasek Foundation and hosted by Singapore Polytechnic, is designed to promote community leadership, cultural exchange, and sustainable development through experiential learning projects involving students from various countries across the region.
EIU students listen to sharing from SP lecturers
During the 14-day journey in Singapore, EIU students will join hands with students from Singapore Polytechnic in a series of educational, cultural, and experiential activities. Kicking off with bonding sessions and team-building activities, the program helps participants strengthen their teamwork and youth leadership skills before diving into intensive academic exploration.
Throughout the program, students will learn and apply Design Thinking methodology engaging directly with local communities, conducting field research, listening to residents’ stories, identifying key issues, and co-developing practical solutions that contribute to sustainable development.
Beyond the academic aspect, TF SCALE is also a vibrant cultural exchange platform, where every day brings new opportunities to broaden perspectives and sharpen cross-cultural communication skills an essential toolkit for EIU students on their path toward global integration.
