With the aim of helping children living in the Becamex Dinh Hoa social housing review, strengthen, and improve their English skills during the summer, while also fostering their passion and enthusiasm for learning the language, the Youth Union of Eastern International University (EIU) collaborated with the Youth Union of Dinh Hoa Ward to organize a free English class for local children at the STEMLAB Room, EIU.
The opening ceremony took place on May 30, 2024, with the attendance of Mr. Nguyen Phuc Hau – Secretary of the Binh Duong Provincial Business Sector Youth Union; Mr. Nguyen Le Dung – Deputy Secretary of the Dinh Hoa Ward Youth Union; Mr. Le Minh Tuan – Head of the Management Board of Becamex Dinh Hoa Social Housing; Mr. Mai Son Tung – Secretary of the EIU Party Committee; Mr. Nguyen Le Ngoc Long – Secretary of the EIU Youth Union; along with lecturers from EIU English Center, representatives of departmental youth branches, volunteer teams, parents, and especially nearly 50 children residing in the Becamex Dinh Hoa social housing.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Nguyen Le Ngoc Long shared: “Following the success of the 2023 Summer Volunteer Program – Free English Classes for Children in the Becamex Dinh Hoa social housing, this year the EIU Youth Union has developed a more comprehensive English teaching program. It not only includes exercises to enhance vocabulary and grammar, and communication activities with native teachers, but also integrates STEMLAB lessons and soft skills development activities for children.”
The volunteer program has attracted active participation from many EIU students, including those from the Talent Program of the School of Business Administration. With youthful energy and valuable knowledge and experience in learning English, EIU students are committed to bringing engaging and meaningful learning experiences to the children.
The English class officially started on May 30, 2024, and takes place every Monday and Thursday from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. It is expected to be both an educational and enjoyable space where children can have a memorable and meaningful summer.
The Free English Class for Children in the Becamex Dinh Hoa social housing, along with many other volunteer initiatives regularly organized by EIU, encourages students to take part in humanitarian and community-oriented programs. Through these activities, EIU students gain a deeper understanding of social responsibility and the true value of youth, while fostering a spirit of compassion and community service.
