On September 10, the School of Engineering (SOE) at Eastern International University (EIU) organized a welcoming program for the 2025 cohort of freshmen. The event was not only an opportunity for students to officially begin their new academic journey, but also a chance to meet faculty members, make new friends, and explore the modern, dynamic learning environment at EIU.
Assoc. Prof. Dr Duong Hoai Nghia – Dean of the School of Engineering, delivered a welcome speech to the freshmen
Speaking at the program, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Duong Hoai Nghĩa – Dean of the School of Engineering – extended a warm welcome to all freshmen. He emphasized that, with the mission of training high-quality human resources in the field of engineering, the School of Engineering focuses on enhancing students’ capabilities and creating additional “added value” through highly integrated and continuously improved training programs.
Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hung – Vice Dean of the School of Engineering – introduced the School’s training programs.
As part of the program, the new students were provided with important information about the School’s curriculum by the School’s leadership, with particular emphasis on experiential learning—one of the hallmarks of SOE at EIU. Accordingly, in addition to theoretical knowledge, students will directly engage in internships, practicums, and projects at enterprises, thereby gaining practical experience and developing creative and proactive thinking.
Industry representatives and alumni shared their experiences with the freshmen
During the session with the freshmen, Mr. Huynh Anh Hien and Ms. Tran Thanh Truc from East West Industries Vietnam, along with Mr. Nguyen Anh Duy – a SOE alumnus currently working at LEGO Manufacturing Vietnam – shared practical insights on recruitment requirements in the engineering industry, career opportunities, essential soft skills to develop, and tips for mastering English to achieve an IELTS score of 6.0 or higher.
Dr. Le Ngoc Huan – Head of the Mechanical and Mechatronics Department, shared insights with the students.
Dr. Nguyen Minh Hien – Head of the Electronics and Telecommunications Department, shared insights with the students.
Dr. Huynh Minh Canh – Head of the Control and Automation Engineering Department, shared insights with the students.
