On June 14, Eastern International University (EIU) held the Graduation Ceremony and Certificate Presentation for participants of the “FPGA Programming and Design” course. The trainees were engineers from East West Industries Vietnam (EWI). EWI is a member of the East West Manufacturing Group (USA), established in VSIP II in 2008, and is a large-scale manufacturer of electronic components, offering services ranging from PCB assembly, plastic injection molding, and metal stamping to final product assembly and testing for the global market.
EWI engineers practice in EIU labs
The course was developed in response to EWI’s request to enhance foundational knowledge of Field-Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA), using the DE2-115 Altera kit, Quartus software, and the System Verilog hardware description language. It equipped participants with essential skills to operate tools for measurement, analysis, and electronic product design using FPGA technology. These competencies are particularly beneficial to EWI, given its diverse product portfolio for customers – ranging from power protection devices, motor controllers, and pumps to advanced tech products such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, radio communication devices, exercise bikes, and other consumer electronics.
Dr. Nguyễn Minh Hiền – Head of the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications, Faculty of Engineering, EIU speaks at the ceremony
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Robert Silvestre – Engineering Director at EWI, expressed his gratitude to EIU for organizing a training program aligned with the company’s real-world demands. He also expressed hope that the collaboration between EIU and EWI would continue to expand, especially in training electronic and telecommunications engineers.
Mr. Robert Silvestre – Engineering Director, EWI thanks EIU at the Graduation Ceremony
At the end of the event, EIU awarded Certificates of Completion to 12 engineers, marking a significant step in the practical application of FPGA knowledge in production and electronic product design. The “FPGA Programming and Design” course is a clear testament to the strong partnership between EIU and its industry partners in developing applied knowledge, strengthening the skillsets of engineering teams, and contributing meaningfully to technological innovation and modern industrial development in Southeast Vietnam and the country as a whole.
