Freshman build a foundation for holistic development through the Orientation Program

On September 11 and 12, 2025, first-year students of the Class of 2025 took part in orientation activities that provided them with valuable information and resources to better prepare for the new academic year.

Dr Nguyen Ngoc Huy – Vice President EIU spoke at the 2025 Student Orientation Program

Specifically, the students had the opportunity to meet with faculty members from the Academic Advising Unit, the Academic Affairs Office, and the Community Engagement Office. They learned about the role of academic advisors in accompanying, guiding, and supporting them throughout their studies; received instructions from the Academic Affairs Office on the curriculum, regulations, grading system, and foreign language proficiency requirements; and listened to the Community Engagement Office share about opportunities for workplace observation, internships, and the skills needed to participate effectively. These three key sessions served as the first essential preparation, helping new students gain a clearer understanding of their academic and developmental journey at EIU.

Students joined sessions presented by guest speakers and unit representatives

In addition to academic and training-related sessions, new students also participated in a special seminar on student health and well-being. In this session, MSc., MD. Lai Quoc Thai – Head of the Internal Medicine Department at Becamex International Hospital – helped students understand the connection between health and academic performance, thereby emphasizing the importance of maintaining both physical and mental well-being throughout their studies. Students were also introduced to the university’s psychological counseling unit, which is ready to provide support when they face mental health challenges related to academics or personal life. Furthermore, the program provided detailed guidance on the use of health insurance cards, ensuring students are aware of their entitlements and know how to access medical services when needed.

In addition, students participated in a fire prevention, firefighting, and emergency evacuation training session. This practical activity was designed to equip them with essential knowledge and skills for handling emergency situations, thereby raising their awareness of safety and enabling them to protect themselves as well as the community—both within the university environment and in everyday life.
