EIU & Becamex Tokyu Organize Kick-off Meeting for the Pilot Course “Interdisciplinary Community Project Course”

On October 17, Eastern International University (EIU), in collaboration with Becamex Tokyu Co., Ltd., held a kick-off meeting for the pilot course Interdisciplinary Community Project Course.” This is the first course at EIU that brings together students from various faculties and disciplines, marking the beginning of an experiential interdisciplinary learning model at the university.

The event attracted the participation of faculty leaders, supervising lecturers, and many interested students, reflecting the excitement and anticipation of the EIU community for this innovative learning approach.

At the event, Mr. Leo Nishimura – Chief Executive Officer of Becamex Tokyu Co., Ltd. – shared the company’s journey of formation and development, highlighting its mission to create modern, civilized, and sustainable living spaces in Binh Duong New City. He also introduced the main theme of this pilot course project: “Engaging Communities in Sustainable Urban Living,” which aims to build a green, humane, and socially responsible living environment.

The discussion became lively during an open Q&A session, with EIU students actively asking questions and sharing diverse perspectives on sustainable urban development, the role of businesses in the community, and the application of interdisciplinary knowledge in practice. The students’ proactive engagement, critical thinking, and positive learning attitude created a dynamic learning environment, reflecting the spirit of collaboration and experiential learning that the course aims to foster.

The pilot course Interdisciplinary Community Project Course not only helps students engage with real-world issues but also develops their interdisciplinary thinking, teamwork skills, and problem-solving abilities in a globalized context. Throughout the semester, student groups will collaborate with businesses and faculty to implement ideas aimed at fostering community engagement and enhancing the quality of urban life in Binh Duong, now part of Ho Chi Minh City.
