EIU Student engage in practice-based learning project with industry partners

On December 16, students from the Becamex Business School at Eastern International University (EIU) presented their consulting projects to TamNest Company Limited (Dat 61) as part of the course FIN465 – Cases in Finance

Students Present Their Projects to the Leadership of TamNest Co., Ltd.

Over the course of ten weeks, the two student teams not only studied financial theories in class but also worked directly on a real-world business case. Specifically, they conducted land valuations and proposed strategic development directions for several land plots in Thu Dau Mot Ward. Through this project, students gradually became familiar with professional workflows, from data collection and market analysis to building valuation models, as well as presenting and defending their proposals before the company.

From a technical perspective, the students applied academic tools such as the Hedonic Pricing Model and the comparable method, combined with market data, to determine fair values for each land parcel. Based on these results, the teams further developed strategic development scenarios aligned with the effective utilization of the land fund and the practical needs of Dat 61. This process enabled students to gain a deeper understanding of how businesses make data-driven decisions and assess the feasibility of financial solutions in real practice.

Lecturers from BBS presented commemorative gifts and expressed their appreciation to the company

The project presentation session took place in a serious and professional working atmosphere, featuring direct feedback and critiques from company representatives. The comments provided by Mr. Doan Tan Dat, CEO of Dat 61, helped students gain a clearer understanding of the gap between theory and practice, while also strengthening their critical thinking, adaptability, and ability to work in accordance with professional standards.

Through the FIN465 – Cases in Finance course, EIU students not only accumulate academic knowledge but also gain early exposure to real workplace environments, becoming familiar with deadline pressure, quality expectations, and teamwork skills—key requirements of today’s labor market. Project-based learning therefore serves as an essential bridge, enabling students to gradually transition from learners to competent professionals.
