On December 30, Eastern International University (EIU) hosted the Vietnamese Sustainability Leaders Programme – Introduction & Networking Session, with the participation of 20 domestic and international enterprises currently operating in Ho Chi Minh City.
Dr. Kang Seung Won – Dean of the Becamex Business Administration at EIU, gives the opening speech of the program.
With the theme “From Vision to Impact: Building Vietnam’s Sustainability Leaders,” the program highlighted the role of higher education in general, and EIU in particular, in partnering with businesses to develop and implement sustainable development strategies that balance economic growth, social responsibility, and environmental protection.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Akrum Helfaya, Associate Professor in Accounting for Sustainability at Keele Business School, analyzed how organizations translate sustainability visions into concrete actions. By integrating academic theory with practical experience, he emphasized the critical role of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ESG, and value creation models in shaping long-term strategies that enhance organizational resilience and competitiveness.

Through the program, the mindset of sustainability was widely disseminated across the business community, while reaffirming EIU’s role as a knowledge bridge between academia and real-world business practice—fostering collaboration, experience sharing, and action-oriented initiatives. In particular, the event marked the first step in introducing the VSLP program to business leaders and managers, which is scheduled to launch in April 2026.
