Eastern International University opens AUN-QA program-level external assessment

From March 17 to 19, Eastern International University (EIU) is conducting an official external assessment of its academic programs in accordance with the AUN-QA criteria. The assessment covers four undergraduate programs: Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Software Engineering, Bachelor of Automation and Control Engineering and Bachelor of Mechatronics Engineering.

Attending the opening session, the AUN-QA Assessment Team was led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Maria Elissa J. Lao as Chief Assessor, along with assessors from the Philippines, Thailand, and Indonesia. On the side of EIU were Mr. Nguyen Tan Loi, Chairman of the University Council; Dr. Ngo Minh Duc, President of the University; as well as faculty leaders, lecturers, and staff from the assessed programs.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Ngo Minh Duc, President of EIU, stated that in the context of rapid transformations in global higher education, training quality has become a strategic commitment toward the University’s sustainable development. In 2024, 100% of eligible academic programs met the quality standards set by the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training. In 2025, EIU successfully completed its second-cycle institutional accreditation.

The continued implementation of AUN-QA program assessments reflects EIU’s strong commitment to aligning with ASEAN regional standards, thereby enhancing and comprehensively improving its academic offerings, Dr. Ngo Minh Duc emphasized.

At the opening session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Maria Elissa J. Lao, Chief Assessor of the AUN-QA Assessment Team, acknowledged and highly appreciated EIU’s efforts and thorough preparation for this assessment. According to her, AUN-QA consistently works with universities toward a shared vision of improving higher education quality in the region. The alignment between the core values of AUN-QA program assessment and EIU’s development orientation is a positive signal.

She also emphasized that this AUN-QA assessment marks an important milestone in EIU’s journey to enhance the quality of its academic programs, aiming to provide students with a better learning and training environment.

During their visit, the assessment team will conduct various activities, including interviews with university leaders, faculty management, lecturers, staff, students, alumni, and industry representatives. The team will also review EIU’s learning environment and facilities, such as the Library, the Industry 4.0 Innovation Center, the Advanced Manufacturing Center, the Sustainable Solutions Center, the TechLab and FabLab systems, the Cybersecurity Center, classrooms, laboratories, and other related facilities. Prior to the official opening, the team conducted a campus facilities tour on the afternoon of March 16.

Participation in the AUN-QA assessment once again affirms EIU’s commitment to continuous improvement and enhancement of training quality. Through this process, the University aims to progressively integrate into advanced regional and international education standards, ultimately contributing to the development of high-quality human resources that meet the demands of the global labor market.
