On March 19, Eastern International University (EIU) held the closing ceremony of the external assessment of its academic programs in accordance with AUN-QA criteria for four undergraduate programs: Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Software Engineering, Bachelor of Automation and Control Engineering, and Bachelor of Mechatronics Engineering.
The program was attended by representatives from the AUN-QA assessment team, including Associate Professor Dr. Maria Elissa J. Lao, Head of the Delegation, along with expert assessors from the Philippines, Thailand, and Indonesia. Representing EIU were Dr Ngo Minh Duc, President of the University, together with faculty leaders, lecturers, and administrative staff from the departments whose programs were under evaluation.
At the closing session, the assessment team presented the preliminary results and provided an analysis of the strengths of each program, along with recommendations for further improvement and adjustments in the coming period. These results serve as an important basis for EIU and its faculties to evaluate their level of compliance with quality criteria, thereby developing improvement strategies toward regional and international standards, and better meeting the needs of learners and society.

In her remarks at the program, Assoc. Prof. Dr Maria Elissa J. Lao highly appreciated the University’s spirit of cooperation throughout the three-day assessment. She also expressed her expectation that the evaluation reports would serve as valuable references to support EIU in further enhancing the quality of its academic programs. She additionally expressed her hope that, in the near future, more of EIU’s programs will participate in assessments in accordance with AUN-QA criteria.

Speaking at the closing session, Dr Ngo Minh Duc stated that the external assessment under AUN-QA criteria is not only a significant milestone in the University’s quality assurance journey, but also an important opportunity to further refine its internal quality assurance system, as well as enhance the effectiveness of training, research, and community service activities. He emphasized that the University will seriously take into account the recommendations from the assessment panel, using them as a basis to develop concrete action plans and implement appropriate improvement measures.

With a rigorous and transparent evaluation process and a comprehensive set of criteria, AUN-QA is widely recognized within the Southeast Asian higher education system. Participation in this assessment not only helps higher education institutions enhance the effectiveness of their quality assurance activities but also demonstrates EIU’s strong commitment to society and the labor market regarding the quality of its trained human resources.
