As of now, 30 students from Eastern International University (EIU) have passed the halfway point of their inspiring journey in the TF SCALE 2025 program at Singapore Polytechnic a learning experience that combines growth, cultural exchange, and community impact.

Over the past days, students have delved into specialized topics such as User Experience (UX), Sense & Sensibility, Empathy Study, and Ideation. These are highly practical areas of knowledge that help students cultivate a design-thinking mindset and apply it to address real-world community issues.

The highlight of the program is the community engagement activity at Keat Hong residential area, home to a large population of elderly residents who live alone and rarely participate in outdoor or communal activities. At this location, EIU students collaborated with Singapore Polytechnic students to conduct on-site surveys, engage with residents, and collect insights through open and sincere interviews. These interactions offered students a profound and authentic perspective on the challenges faced by the local community.

From these real-world interactions, student teams began to develop thoughtful and feasible solution ideas centered around three main issues: How to encourage elderly men in Keat Hong to participate more actively in community life in ways that are respectful, appealing, and culturally appropriate; How to create everyday moments of connection that reflect the unique identity and stories of the Keat Hong community and its residents; How to better support elderly individuals who live alone and have limited mobility, helping them feel safe, connected, and cared for.
TF SCALE 2025 is more than just a cultural exchange program it is a meaningful journey that fosters humanity, social responsibility, and empathy in every student. It provides young people with the opportunity to live authentically, learn deeply, and take real action in an interdisciplinary, multicultural, and inspirational learning environment./.
