During the program held this morning (January 15), Mrs Tran Hoai Bao – Director of Office of Quality Assurance, presented to the Board of Presidents and lecturers the main contents related to the Self-Assessment Report of the institution for Cycle 2. These included: significant improvements achieved during the 2020 – 2024 period; a summary of the Self-Assessment Report; a synthesis of results based on various standards; key milestones, and proposed recommendations. Regarding academic development, as part of the “Significant Improvements from 2020 to 2024”, EIU introduced three new educational programs (Economics And Data Science in 2023; Mechanical Engineering and Electronics & Telecommunications Engineering in 2024). Additionally, the university’s annual student enrollment has steadily increased, from over 400 new students in 2020 to nearly 1,000 in 2024 (increased by 51.3%).
“Regarding quality assurance, EIU received the Certificate of VNU-HCM center for Education Accreditation (VNU-HCM CEA) in April 2020. Notably, all 7 of the institution’s eligible academic programs have successfully achieved accreditation based on the standards issued under Circular 04/2016 by the Ministry of Education and Training (in 2023 and 2024). Two programs met 100% of the required criteria.” – Director of Office of Quality Assurance emphasizes

On this occasion, Mrs Tran Hoai Bao also reported on the university’s activities and achievements in scientific research; infrastructure investment and university governance; international cooperation; and digital transformation. Additionally, she presented proposals and recommendations for future developments.

As part of the training session, Associate Professor Dr. Le Van Hao, Head of Academic Excellence. Office of Academic Affairs shared insights with faculty members and units across the university regarding the preparation for the external assessment at an institutional level, (cycle 2) at EIU. He emphasized the importance of thorough preparation, from the preliminary survey phase to the official evaluation process. The information provided not only helped departments gain a clearer understanding of the evaluation procedures and requirements but also introduced effective methods to carry out their tasks professionally, accurately, and comprehensively.

Training session on preparation for external assessment at the institutional level aimed to ensure thorough readiness for the preliminary survey on February 11, 2025, and the official evaluation by the expert panel from February 24 to 28, 2025. In his closing remarks, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Trong – Vice President of EIU, expressed his hope that all participants would strive to fulfill their assigned tasks and overcome challenges to ensure the process stays on schedule. He emphasized that this was not only an opportunity for EIU to conduct a comprehensive self-assessment of its strengths and areas for improvement but also a foundation for developing a sustainable educational strategy. This effort contributes to greater alignment within the education system, strengthening public confidence in the quality of training at EIU in particular and Vietnamese higher education in general./.
