The First Congress of the Vietnam Student Association at EIU, Term 2024 – 2026

The congress was solemnly held this morning (September 30) at the B3.200 Auditorium of Eastern International University (EIU). This is a significant political event for the university’s students, marking the beginning of a new development milestone in the student union’s activities and the student movement at EIU in the upcoming period.

In attendance were Ms. Trần Thị Diễm Trinh – Member of the Standing Committee of the Central Youth Union, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the Binh Duong Provincial Youth Union, and Chairwoman of the Vietnam Youth Federation of Binh Duong Province; Mr. Lý Văn Đẹp – Deputy Director of the Department of Home Affairs of Binh Duong Province; Mr. Lê Tuấn Anh – Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam National Union of Students, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, and Chairman of the Vietnam Students’ Association of Binh Duong Province; Ms. Nguyễn Thị Hoài Linh – Member of the Executive Committee of the Provincial Youth Union, Deputy Head of the Youth Affairs Department of the Provincial Youth Union, and Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial Students’ Association; Ms. Trương Diễm Linh – Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Students’ Association of Binh Duong Province, along with other leaders, including Chairpersons and Vice Chairpersons of the Vietnam Students’ Association from universities and colleges across Binh Duong Province.

On behalf of EIU, attendees included Dr. Ngo Minh Duc – President; Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Huy – Vice President; Mr. Mai Sơn Tung – Secretary of the Party Committee; Mr. Nguyen Le Ngoc Long – Secretary of the Youth Union and Head of the EIU Vietnam Students’ Association Establishment Committee, along with leaders from various faculties, departments, and students of the university. Notably, 121 delegates from faculties and affiliated units attended the Congress, representing over 3,500 students currently studying at EIU.

Mr. Le Tuan Anh – Member of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Student Association, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, and President of the Vietnam Student Association of Binh Duong Province, gave a speech at the Congress.

Speaking at the Congress, Mr. Le Tuan Anh – Member of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Students’ Association, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, and Chairman of the Vietnam Students’ Association of Binh Duong Province, stated: “Established in 2010, the Vietnam Students’ Association of Binh Duong Province now has seven student associations at universities and colleges. Today, we are honored to welcome a new member – the Vietnam Students’ Association of EIU. On behalf of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union and the Secretariat of the Provincial Vietnam Students’ Association, I acknowledge and highly commend the proactive efforts and thorough preparations of the EIU Vietnam Students’ Association Establishment Committee.

At the Congress, the Chairman of the Vietnam Students’ Association of Binh Duong Province outlined five key requirements for the Vietnam Students’ Association of EIU to implement during its first term: Firstly, the Vietnam Students’ Association of EIU should focus on implementing solutions to encourage students to actively engage in learning and self-improvement. This aligns with the university’s core principles of “Humanity – Community – Creativity – Sustainability.”; Secondly, the activities of the Vietnam Students’ Association of EIU must be practical, engaging, and meet the legitimate needs and aspirations of students; Thirdly, the Vietnam Students’ Association of EIU must establish a roadmap and policies to train potential leaders for the organization, especially key officers; Fourthly, the Vietnam Students’ Association of EIU must promptly develop action programs following the Congress. This demonstrates the proactiveness of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Students’ Association of EIU in successfully implementing the Congress’s Resolution; Fifthly, the Vietnam Students’ Association of EIU must effectively fulfill its responsibilities according to the evaluation criteria set by the Vietnam Students’ Association of Binh Duong Province, as well as meet the management requirements of the People’s Committee of Binh Duong Province.

During the program, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Huy, Vice President of the university, represented the Board of Management in extending congratulations to the Vietnam Students’ Association of EIU. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Huy  stated that EIU plays a pivotal role in training high-quality human resources within the ecosystem of Becamex Corporation. Over nearly 15 years of establishment and development, EIU has affirmed itself as a crucial component of Binh Duong Province’s Innovation Region. The faculty and students of Eastern International University have significantly contributed to the recognition of Binh Duong as the 2023 Intelligent Community of the Year – TOP 1 ICF by the Intelligent Community Forum (ICF). EIU students have been actively contributing to the growth of various enterprises and are highly regarded by businesses for their specialized knowledge, professional work ethic, and strong foreign language skills in international working environments.

Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Huy – Vice President of EIU, gave a speech at the Congress.

On this occasion, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Huy provided directives to the Vietnam Students’ Association of EIU for the upcoming period. He emphasized that the Association must thoroughly understand the directives from the Vietnam Students’ Association of Bình Dương Province and transform these directives into practical actions. With the slogan “Solidarity – Creativity – Integration – Development,” for the 2024–2026 term, the university’s administration expects the Vietnam Students’ Association of EIU to focus on understanding the leadership role of the “Five Good Student Movement” and expanding this movement among students at the university.

On this event, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Huy, Vice President of the University, also called on the entire university to continue to better harness the political core role of the Vietnam Students’ Association of EIU, enhance support for student movements, and build the organization of the Association.

The Executive Committee of the Vietnam Student Association of EIU, Term 2024 – 2026, was introduced to the Congress. Ms. Tu Thi Hong Diep (8th from the right) – a third-year student in the Faculty of Information Technology, was elected President of the Vietnam Student Association of EIU, Term 2024.

At the end of the program, the congress voted to elect the Executive Committee and the Inspection Committee of the Vietnam Students’ Association of EIU for the 2024–2026 term, consisting of 15 members, with 5 members in the Secretariat and 5 members in the Inspection Committee.

Accordingly, Ms. Tu Thi Hong Diep, a third-year student from the Faculty of Information Technology, was elected President of the Vietnam Students’ Association of Eastern International University for the 2024–2026 term. Mr. Cao Za Hoang Kim, Deputy Secretary of the University’s Youth Union, was elected Vice President of the Vietnam Students’ Association of EIU. Ms. Vo Pham Mai Uyen, Secretary of the Student Union of the Faculty of Engineering and Fablab specialist at EIU, was elected Vice President of the Vietnam Students’ Association of EIU. With this result, the Vietnam Students’ Association of EIU is the first university in Binh Duong Province to have a student hold the position of President of the Vietnam Students’ Association after the university established the Association.
