On June 19, 2024, Eastern International University (EIU) held a scientific conference titled “Economic Development in Binh Duong Province to Escape the Middle-Income Trap.” The conference was lively, with the participation of over 60 researchers, guest experts, lecturers, specialists, and students from Becamex Business School.
In his opening speech, Dr. Nguyễn Thanh Trọng, Vice President of EIU, welcomed and appreciated the experts and researchers attending the workshop, noting the scientific and practical significance of the topic. He emphasized that this workshop was not only a scientific activity but also a meaningful forum for exchanging, discussing, and developing policy ideas and solutions that could be proposed to provincial government agencies and Becamex Corporation for economic development in Binh Duong under the new context. The conference also served as an opportunity to expand communication and strengthen connections between EIU scientists, lecturers, and students and the reputable scientific community within and outside Binh Duong province.
Numerous detailed research papers were submitted to the workshop, covering various topics such as: Institutional and policy management research for Binh Duong’s economic development in the new phase, Research on human resources and labor productivity in Binh Duong province, Research on the business environment and enterprise development in Binh Duong province.

At the program, Prof. Nguyễn Kim Lợi from Nong Lam University presented one of his studies related to climate change and GeoAI with the theme “Application of Geographical Artificial Intelligence (GeoAI) in Socio-Economic and Environmental Research in the Context of Climate Change.”
Additionally, EIU researchers and lecturers presented the following studies: “Assessing Provincial Technical Efficiency in Vietnam: A Spatial Panel Stochastic Frontier Analysis using Nighttime Light Data” (authored by Kang Seung Won and Nguyễn Công Thắng); “Exploring the Possibility of Developing a Financial Center in Binh Duong: A Strategic Approach to Escaping the Middle-Income Trap” (authored by Võ Ngọc Thảo Nguyên and Vũ Thị Hồng Nhung); “Foreign Direct Investment and the Current Environmental Situation in Binh Duong” (authored by Nguyễn Bạch Đằng, Phạm Thị Hồng Nhung, and Phan Thị Nga); “Preliminary Research on the Perceived Quality of Life of Laborers in Binh Duong Province” (authored by Phạm Thị Hồng Nhung, Nguyễn Bạch Đằng, Cao Thái Bảo Nguyên, and Trịnh Minh Anh).
