As of now, 30 students from Eastern International University (EIU) have completed more than half of their journey in the TF SCALE 2025 program at Singapore Polytechnic — an inspiring learning, experiential, and personal growth journey.

In recent days, the students have been introduced to and studied advanced topics such as UX (User Experience), Sense & Sensibility, Empathy Study, and Ideation. These highly practical subjects help students develop design thinking skills and apply them to solving real-world community challenges.

The highlight of the program is the community engagement activity at Keat Hong residential area — home to many elderly residents who live alone and rarely participate in outdoor activities. Here, EIU students, together with Singapore Polytechnic students, conducted direct surveys, listened to, and gathered feedback from local residents. Through these sincere and open conversations, the students gradually gained a genuine and profound understanding of the challenges faced by the community.

From there, the student groups began developing practical and feasible solution ideas around three main issues: How to encourage elderly men in Keat Hong to participate more actively in community life in ways that are respectful, engaging, and appropriate? How to create everyday moments of connection that reflect the unique identity and stories of Keat Hong and its residents? How to better support elderly individuals who live alone and have limited mobility in Keat Hong, helping them feel safe, connected, and cared for?
More than just a cultural exchange program, TF SCALE 2025 is a journey that nurtures humanity, social responsibility, and empathy in every student. It offers young people the opportunity to truly live, learn, and act in an interdisciplinary, multicultural, and deeply inspiring learning environment.
