Following the success of the first Overseas Exposure Learning Program (OELP I) in early September 2024, from September 30 to October 4, students from Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP), Singapore had an exciting experience participating in the second OELP program at EIU.
The OELP program offers a unique exploration journey for NYP students and lecturers in Vietnam. In addition to visiting leading companies in Binh Duong to learn about production processes and the business environment in Vietnam, and exploring Vietnamese culture through trips to historical sites, NYP students also took part in experiential activities at EIU. One of the highlights at EIU was attending a workshop on thinking methods titled “Six Thinking Hats,” organized by the university’s Community Engagement Office.

NYP Students join workshop at EIU
NYP students shared that the “Six Thinking Hats” workshop organized by Office of Community Engagement was extremely valuable. The method is a simple yet highly effective tool in practice, helping students focus on different aspects of a problem and address them in a comprehensive way.
NYP students visited EIU’s partner companies as part of the program
After being held twice at EIU, it is clear that the OELP program not only broadens the horizons and practical knowledge of international students but also promotes cultural exchange and educational collaboration between Vietnam and Singapore in general, and between EIU and NYP in particular. This opens up numerous opportunities for future academic and professional development between the two institutions.
Building on the strong cooperative relationship between EIU and NYP, the two institutions have organized various collaborative and bilateral programs, including internships for engineering students and specialized training programs for lecturers in the health sector. For example, NYP students completed a three-month graduation internship at EIU from March to June 2024; from March 20–24, 2023, EIU conducted a training program for lecturers from the School of Nursing, Becamex Hospital nurses, and specialists from NYP’s Medical Project Office, along with many other academic and scientific research activities.
