That is the main theme of the Eastern International University Scientific Conference 2024 (EIUSC 2024), which took place today (December 25) at Eastern International University (EIU).
EIUSC is an annual event organized by EIU, marking its third year since the inaugural conference in 2022. EIUSC 2024 attracted more than 200 researchers, lecturers, staff members, and students of the university, along with guests from partner institutions such as Keele University (United Kingdom), the University of Economics – University of Danang, the University of Information Technology (Ho Chi Minh City), Cho Ray Hospital, and Becamex International Hospital, among others.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Ngo Minh Duc – Rector of EIU – emphasized that 2024 presents pressing global issues concerning sustainable development, including climate change, resource depletion, healthcare, education, and environmental protection. With the theme “Advancing Sustainability and Community Development through Interdisciplinary Research,” the conference highlights the importance of interdisciplinary studies in leveraging the distinct knowledge, tools, and methodologies of various disciplines to foster innovation, introduce new approaches, and contribute to comprehensive and effective solutions.

The conference featured three main sessions, including the Plenary Session, Specialized Subcommittee Presentations, and the Poster Presentation Session. These sessions revolved around key themes such as Economics, Business and Management; Engineering; Information Technology; Health Sciences; University Governance, and other related topics.
Dr Akrum Helfaya from Keele University delivered a presentation at the conference.
During the plenary session, Dr. Akrum Helfaya from Keele University shared his insights with the conference on the topic “Climate Action: Reshaping the Future.”
In his presentation, Dr. Helfaya discussed key issues related to climate change, including what climate change is, why it matters, who should be concerned, and what actions we can take to address it.
Continuing the program, Dr. Ly Duy Khiem – Director of the Intelligent Operations Center at Becamex IDC Corporation – delivered a presentation on “Sustainable Development of Industrial Parks and Urban Areas.” He highlighted that Becamex IDC Corporation has been and will continue transforming its industrial park development strategy toward a greener and smarter direction to enhance its attractiveness to investors. In particular, over the past years, Becamex IDC has implemented a green transformation across VSIP industrial parks based on five core elements: Clean energy, Green coverage, Industrial symbiosis, Smart management based on the IOC and digital transformation platform, Infrastructure for community and social development Regarding the green coverage initiative, statistics show that by the end of 2024, Becamex IDC had planted approximately 540,000 trees. By 2025, the corporation plans to expand the tree-planting program to nearly 1.2 million trees, bringing the total number of trees planted across VSIP industrial parks and other areas since before 2023 to over two million trees.

Becamex IDC Corporation has always placed strong emphasis on sustainable development, creating advantages for investors in implementing ESG practices and pursuing Net Zero goals. The corporation is a pioneer in collaborating with the World Bank to research and promote opportunities for developing Vietnam’s first Eco-Industrial Park (EIP) in alignment with the international EIP 2.0 framework by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the World Bank, and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), according to the Director of Becamex IDC’s Intelligent Operations Center.
During the specialized subcommittee and poster presentation sessions, the review panel, researchers, scientists, lecturers, and students delivered their presentations and engaged in constructive discussions. These exchanges fostered an atmosphere of vibrant academic dialogue that continued throughout the conference.

It was observed that all research topics received valuable feedback and high appreciation from the review panel — from the choice of research themes, subjects, and objectives to the relevance and urgency of each topic. Notably, research integrity was strictly monitored and ensured through the involvement of relevant stakeholders and specialized committees, thereby contributing to the credibility and success of EIUSC 2024.
In the afternoon of the same day, the Organizing Committee of EIUSC 2024 presented certificates and awards to the 10 best oral presentations and 6 outstanding poster presentations. In addition, qualified papers will be selected for publication in the full-text conference proceedings (in print or online, with an ISBN number).
