Opening Ceremony of the Official Survey for Institutional Accreditation – 2nd Cycle at Eastern International University (EIU)

On the morning of February 24, Eastern International University (EIU), in collaboration with the Center for Education Accreditation – Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM CEA), held the opening ceremony of the official survey for institutional accreditation (2nd cycle), following the standards issued by the Ministry of Education and Training.

Attending the opening ceremony from VNU-HCM CEA were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lê Ngọc Quỳnh Lam – Director of the Center and Head of the Evaluation Delegation; and from the Evaluation Team: M.A. Phạm Thị Bích – Deputy Director of the Center for Testing and Education Quality Assessment at VNU-HCM, team member and secretary; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trần Tiến Khoa – Former Rector of VNU-HCM International University, team member; Dr. Lê Thị Anh Tú – Head of the Quality Management Office at Dalat University, team member; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huỳnh Thanh Công – Deputy Head of the Department of Science and Technology at VNU-HCM, team member; and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Hồng Sinh – Former Head of the Library and Information Science Department at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-HCM, team member.

From EIU, participants included Dr. Ngô Minh Đức – Rector; Dr. Nguyễn Thanh Trọng – Vice Rector; along with heads of faculties, departments, centers, and other units, as well as lecturers and staff of the university.

Delivering the welcome remarks, Dr. Ngô Minh Đức emphasized that educational quality accreditation plays an essential role—not only helping the university objectively and comprehensively assess its training quality, but also serving as a chance to reflect on accomplishments and identify areas for improvement. Through this, EIU can continue to enhance the quality of teaching and learning to meet the needs of all stakeholders.

On this occasion, the Rector provided an overview of the university’s formation and development, along with its key achievements and activities, especially in the period from 2020 to 2024. During this time, EIU actively implemented accreditation for its training programs and successfully achieved accreditation for 100% of its undergraduate programs with graduates (7 programs), all with high results (passing rates of 92% or more). Notably, the Electrical Engineering and Computer Networks & Data Communication programs achieved 100% passing rates, placing them among the top 1% of accredited programs nationwide. This reflects the university’s ongoing efforts to improve and enhance training quality in all aspects—from curricula and teaching methods to faculty capacity and teaching infrastructure.

In her speech at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lê Ngọc Quỳnh Lam – Director of VNU-HCM CEA and Head of the Evaluation Delegation – expressed her gratitude to EIU for its trust and support during this official survey. “This is a valuable opportunity for us to observe the improvements EIU has made throughout its development journey,” she shared.

She also emphasized that, in order to provide an objective, external perspective on the university’s overall performance over the past five years, VNU-HCM CEA invited experts in various fields to participate in this evaluation. Their mission is to contribute valuable insights and propose solutions to further enhance educational quality in the future.

Previously, on February 11, the External Evaluation Team and EIU signed the “Preliminary Survey Completion Report”.

Earlier, during the preliminary survey on February 11, the External Evaluation Team from VNU-HCM CEA conducted meetings and internal discussions with EIU to align on procedures, methods, and a working plan to ensure the smooth and timely progress of the survey. The team conducted a preliminary review of documents and evidence, and assessed facilities including faculty offices, staff workspaces, the medical room, dormitories, sports complexes, and overall student learning and living environments. At the end of the visit, the External Evaluation Team and EIU signed the “Preliminary Survey Completion Report”.

During the official survey period at EIU, the External Evaluation Team will continue to examine supporting documents, visit various units, meet with designated focal staff, and conduct interviews with different stakeholder groups to support the accreditation process./.
