Nursing Faculty Lecturers Present at the 15th International Nursing Conference and the 28th East Asian Forum of Nursing Scholars

The 15th International Nursing Conference and the 28th East Asian Forum of Nursing Scholars (EAFONS) were held from February 13–14 at the COEX Convention and Exhibition Center (South Korea). The event was co-organized by the Korean Academy of Nursing Science and EAFONS.

With the theme “Transformative Care Initiatives on Consilience of Technology and Humanity,” this year’s conference brought together renowned speakers aiming to connect the global nursing community. The event showcased cutting-edge research on critical issues in the nursing field and highlighted the role of nurses in Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) programs in today’s context.

The conference attracted nearly 2,000 research abstracts from scholars, experts, and professionals in health sciences from countries including Japan, China, Bangladesh, Taiwan, Thailand, among others. Notably, two faculty members from EIU’s Faculty of Nursing – Ms. Lê Hồng Liêm and Ms. Hà Thị Kim Phụng – along with their colleagues, presented three studies on maternal and child care and nursing education. Specifically, Ms. Hà Thị Kim Phụng delivered two presentations titled: “Effectiveness of Physical Activities and Dietary Behavior Interventions in Schools for Children Overweight and Obesity” and “Concept Analysis of Weight Management in Obese Children.” Meanwhile, Ms. Lê Hồng Liêm presented her research titled: “Artificial Intelligence Standardized Patients in Nursing Education: A Concept Analysis”.

During her presentation on “Concept Analysis of Weight Management in Obese Children,” Ms. Hà Thị Kim Phụng emphasized that childhood obesity is a major risk factor for chronic diseases such as cardiovascular conditions and diabetes. Early weight management plays a vital role in preventive strategies, significantly improving the effectiveness of healthcare interventions. Her study aimed to establish a clear, comprehensive, and practical definition of “weight management in children” while identifying key attributes, antecedents, and consequences of weight management approaches to enhance their effectiveness in clinical and preventive care.

In particular, during the two-day conference, Ms. Hà Thị Kim Phụng and Ms. Lê Hồng Liêm, along with their team, were honored with the Best Poster Award—standing out among hundreds of submissions. This achievement reflects the high regard of international scholars and experts for the scientific merit and practical relevance of their research. It affirms the quality of their studies and contributes meaningfully to health sciences and the nursing field.

Discussing her research topic, Ms. Lê Hồng Liêm shared: “Our study aims to define and clarify the concept of ‘Artificial Intelligence Standardized Patients’ (AI-SPs) in nursing education using Rodgers’ evolutionary concept analysis method. AI-SPs represent a modern trend that enhances nursing education by providing a flexible, customizable, and simulated learning environment. The study identifies the attributes, antecedents, and consequences of AI-SPs, helping to build a solid theoretical foundation and propose effective applications of AI-SPs in nursing training programs”.

The 15th International Nursing Conference and the 28th East Asian Forum of Nursing Scholars provided a valuable opportunity for EIU’s Nursing Faculty to share their research with the international academic community, receiving constructive feedback to improve and refine their work. Participation in such international events also enables lecturers to stay abreast of current trends, methodologies, and new findings in the nursing field, thereby enhancing professional expertise and informing curriculum improvements. Furthermore, the conference offered opportunities to build academic networks with researchers, educators, and experts worldwide, paving the way for future collaborations in teaching and research./.
