Opening of Learning Express Programme (LeX) 2026: Advancing experiential learning and community-based solutions

On the morning of April 7, 2026, Eastern International University (EIU), in collaboration with Singapore Polytechnic (SP), officially organized the opening ceremony of Learning Express Programme (LeX), marking the beginning of a series of experiential, community-engaged learning activities in Ho Chi Minh City.

Throughout the programme, taking place from April 7 to April 17, 2026, 30 students from EIU and 30 students from SP will jointly participate in community-based projects in Cu Chi Commune, Phu Giao Commune, and Chanh Hiep Ward, Ho Chi Minh City. During this period, students will be organized into three interdisciplinary teams to conduct field research and apply the design thinking approach in order to analyze local challenges and propose practical solutions. Key project themes include protecting farmers’ health from pesticide exposure, optimizing agricultural harvesting processes, and developing sustainable farming models.

At the opening ceremony, SP students were introduced to EIU’s innovation ecosystem and our strategic orientation toward sustainable development. The delegation also had the opportunity to explore EIU’s academic and research facilities, including the Library, Cyber Security Center, FabLab, Sembcorp–EIU Sustainable Solutions Center, and the Industry 4.0 Innovation Center.

Through the Learning Express Programme, students are expected not only to enhance their problem-solving capabilities and innovative thinking, but also to gain valuable experience in a multicultural learning environment, fostering cross-cultural understanding and international collaboration. The programme also contributes to strengthening the partnership between EIU and educational institutions in Singapore, particularly Singapore Polytechnic, in advancing educational initiatives that promote sustainability and community engagement.
