Nursing Is More Than a Profession. It Is a Social Responsibility and a Mission to Put People at the Center.

On September 10, the School of Health Sciences at Eastern International University (EIU) held a welcome program for the 2026 freshmen. The program helped students learn more about the curriculum and better understand the role of nurses in today’s healthcare environment.

At the program, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Doan Huong – Dean, School of Health Sciences, shared with freshmen about the role of nursing. She explained that nurses directly monitor, support, and care for patients throughout the treatment process. They also serve as a trusted link between the healthcare team and patients’ families, helping bring reassurance and better understanding.

As the healthcare sector continues to change, nursing students need to develop professional knowledge, critical thinking, and the ability to apply technology and AI, while also paying close attention to professional ethics. “Nursing is more than a profession. It is a social responsibility and a mission to put people at the center,” emphasized the Dean, School of Health Sciences.

Lecturers, hospital representatives, and alumni also shared their experiences in studying and working, as well as the practical requirements of the nursing profession.

In addition to career orientation, freshmen were introduced to the key strengths of the School. The sharing session focused on learning methods, facilities, and the practice and laboratory systems used for teaching and research. Students also learned about observation visits and internships at Becamex International Hospital, My Phuoc General Hospital, as well as other hospitals in Vietnam and abroad.

As part of the program, lecturers from the School of Health Sciences demonstrated a clinical scenario. Through this demonstration, students gained a clearer understanding of how nurses respond to situations during patient care and the knowledge and skills required in professional practice.

During the program, lecturers, hospital representatives, and alumni shared with freshmen their experiences in studying and working, as well as the practical requirements of the nursing profession in today’s healthcare sector.
