From July 13 to 17, Eastern International University (EIU) welcomed a delegation of nursing students from the National University of Singapore (NUS) as part of an academic exchange and professional observation program hosted by EIU’s School of Health Sciences.
Throughout the five-day visit, students from both universities participated in a variety of academic activities, professional discussions, and hands-on learning experiences at EIU’s School of Health Sciences, Becamex International Hospital, SOS Children’s Village Ho Chi Minh City, Binh My Nursing Home, and the Pottery Garden.
EIU and NUS students visited Binh My Nursing Home and Becamex International Hospital as part of the academic exchange program.
At Becamex International Hospital, the students had the opportunity to observe patient care practices across various departments, including the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), General Internal Medicine, General Practice, and Rehabilitation. These clinical observation experiences enabled them to gain firsthand exposure to modern healthcare practices while developing a deeper understanding of Vietnam’s healthcare system.
Beyond the professional activities, the delegation visited SOS Children’s Village Ho Chi Minh City and Binh My Nursing Home to learn about care models for children in special circumstances and older adults. These visits provided both NUS and EIU students with valuable insights into the role of nursing in community healthcare while fostering a stronger sense of compassion and professional responsibility.
The program also created opportunities for EIU and NUS students to strengthen cultural exchange through visits to a traditional craft village and activities exploring Vietnam’s local culture. These experiences not only broadened the students’ understanding of Vietnamese culture but also fostered friendship, mutual understanding, and stronger connections between students from the two universities.
The program concluded with meaningful academic and practical learning experiences for the NUS delegation at EIU. Through academic exchanges, clinical observation, and hands-on learning activities, the initiative enhanced students’ professional competencies, strengthened intercultural understanding, and reaffirmed the strong partnership between EIU and NUS in nursing education.
