After three days of taking place (December 4–6), the 15th Vietnam Economists Annual Meeting (VEAM) 2024, hosted at EIU, officially concluded. The conference attracted hundreds of scientists and speakers from domestic and international institutions, including Japan, the UK, Singapore, India, Ireland, France, Spain, Bangladesh, etc.

This year, the research works focused on topics such as Health Economics, Development Economics, Environmental Economics, Technological Innovation, Resource Capital, Trade and Investment, Macroeconomic Issues, Labor and Employment, Consumer Behavior, and more. Over 20 discussion sessions, including three plenary sessions, featured studies addressing pressing contemporary issues, particularly in the fields of economics and technology in Vietnam.

A highlight of this year’s conference was the participation of prominent keynote speakers—leading experts in finance and economics—including Prof. Raouf Boucekkine from Aix-Marseille School of Economics, Aix-Marseille University; Prof. Ian Coxhead from the Institute of Developing Economies; and Prof. Dang Viet Anh from Alliance Manchester Business School, The University of Manchester. On this occasion, at a pre-conference panel discussion, Prof. Le Van Cuong from the French National Centre for Scientific Research, Paris School of Economics – FNCSR, and Member of VEAM Professional Council, shared insights on the topic “Vietnam’s Economy in the First Half of 2024 – Looking Ahead”. This session gave attendees an overview of the country’s economic landscape in the first half of 2024.

At the closing ceremony, the VEAM Professional Council awarded certificates to the authors of the best-rated research papers. In 2024, EIU co-hosted the VEAM Conference for the first time in collaboration with Foreign Trade University, the Policy and Development Research Center, and the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS). The conference is an annual event for researchers and scholars in the fields of economics, public policy, finance, and other related disciplines, both in Vietnam and internationally.
