On May 17, 2023, Eastern International University (EIU) held a ceremony to announce personnel appointment decisions and its monthly Vision Alignment session for May 2023, themed “Quality Improvement and Preparation for the Second Cycle of Institutional Accreditation.” The event was attended by members of the University Council, the Board of Rectors, and a large number of EIU staff and lecturers.

The May 2023 Vision Alignment session aimed to update the EIU community on the implementation of improvement plans following the external assessment of five academic programs. During the session, based on the recommendations of the Education Accreditation Council under the Center for Education Accreditation – Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM), Mr. Tran Hoai Bao shared key areas for quality improvement and activities related to reviewing, evaluating, updating, and introducing new academic programs. He also presented a detailed timeline and specific tasks for preparing for the second cycle of institutional accreditation.

Following the session, Assoc. Prof. Dr Le Van Hao gave a presentation on “Addressing Issues Identified in EIU’s Institutional Quality Assessment under Circular No. 12/2017.” The presentation helped EIU faculty and staff better understand the main issues identified during the university’s first external institutional assessment in 2019. Participants also discussed solutions to address these issues and make improvements to better meet the accreditation standards.

In addition, to strengthen its organizational structure, promote scientific research, and support improvements in education quality, EIU announced a personnel appointment decision for a leadership position in the Office of Scientific Research and Innovation.

Speaking at the event, Dr Nguyen Thanh Trong emphasized the importance of improving the quality of academic programs to develop highly qualified graduates and fulfill EIU’s mission of serving the community, which has been a key goal since the university’s early years. In the coming period, EIU will continue to implement specific plans to prepare for the external assessment of two remaining academic programs from the School of Computing and Information Technology and the School of Engineering. At the same time, the university will continue improving the quality of the five previously assessed programs.

Academic program accreditation is one of EIU’s key activities and is conducted regularly. Following each accreditation process, the university focuses on implementing specific plans with clear objectives to address areas needing improvement and build on its strengths. These efforts aim to enhance education quality and strengthen EIU’s reputation.
