On September 10, 2026, as part of the Welcome EIU Freshmen 2026 program, the School of Engineering (SOE) organized activities for its 2026 freshmen. The program featured a variety of activities to help students learn more about their majors and explore future career pathways.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Duong Hoai Nghia – Dean of the School of Engineering and Director of the Electrical Engineering Program, delivers welcoming remarks to freshmen.
During the welcome program at the hall, leaders of the School of Engineering introduced students to the School’s academic programs, curriculum structure, key features of each major, facilities, laboratories and practice rooms for learning and research, career opportunities after graduation, and student support services.

On this occasion, business representatives and alumni of the School of Engineering shared current recruitment expectations in the engineering field with freshmen. The speakers also highlighted the advantage of EIU students achieving a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 upon graduation, along with the skills students need to develop to meet the needs of employers.

Following the program, freshmen met with the Program Directors of different majors. The lecturers introduced the key features of each program, academic directions, and career opportunities. Through this activity, students gained a better understanding of their chosen fields and career expectations, helping them prepare more effectively for their academic journey at EIU.
