In the joyful atmosphere of welcoming the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Horse, Eastern International University (EIU) organized the “New Year Gathering 2026” program to reflect on its development journey over the past year and to announce key strategic directions for 2026.
The year 2025 marked a period of significant transformation for the University, reflected in a series of concrete, substantive, and sustainable improvements. The admissions process achieved positive results, with the number of applicants and admitted students exceeding the planned targets, further affirming EIU’s reputation and attractiveness within the higher education system. International cooperation also continued to expand in both scope and depth. In addition to international study visits and experiential learning programs for EIU students, the University welcomed several groups of students from France, India, Thailand, and Singapore for internships, study programs, and academic exchanges. These activities not only strengthened the University’s internationalization efforts but also contributed to fostering a multicultural academic environment at EIU.
In parallel, engagement with the community and industry continued to be strengthened in a practical and results-oriented manner, generating tangible value. Beyond strategic partnership agreements, the University has actively promoted initiatives that connect academic training with real-world practice. A notable example is the implementation of an interdisciplinary project-based course for students across all majors, providing them with opportunities to apply their specialized knowledge alongside soft skills to address real-world challenges faced by businesses. At the same time, EIU has proactively partnered with manufacturing enterprises to enhance operational capabilities and develop digital transformation roadmaps through the application of the Smart Industry Readiness Index (SIRI) framework, thereby contributing to innovation and sustainable development.
Entering 2026, EIU has identified four key strategic pillars: (1) Education and learner experience; (2) Scientific research and Innovation; (3) Community engagement and sustainable development; and (4) Staff development and organizational culture building. These pillars serve as the foundation for continuously improving training quality, strengthening the University’s position, and fulfilling its commitments to society and stakeholders.
