This morning (June 19), Eastern International University (EIU) held a scientific seminar titled “Developing Binh Duong’s Economy to Escape the Middle-Income Trap.” The event took place in an engaging atmosphere, attracting the participation of more than 60 researchers, guest experts, and lecturers, staff, and students from EIU’s Economics and Business Administration programs.
In his opening remarks, Dr Nguyen Thanh Trong – Vice President of EIU, warmly welcomed the experts and researchers attending the seminar, emphasizing that the topic carries both scientific and practical significance. He noted that the seminar was not only an academic activity but also a meaningful forum for discussion and policy development, aiming to propose solutions for provincial authorities and Becamex IDC Corporation in promoting Binh Duong’s economic development in the new context.
The seminar also served as an opportunity to strengthen connections and exchanges between EIU’s scholars, lecturers, and students with the wider academic community both within and beyond Binh Duong Province.
Many in-depth research papers were submitted and presented at the seminar, covering topics such as: Institutional and policy management studies for economic development in Binh Duong’s new phase; Research on human resources and labor productivity in Binh Duong Province; Studies on the business environment and enterprise development in the region.

At the seminar, Prof. Nguyen Kim Loi from Nong Lam University shared one of his studies related to climate change and GeoAI, titled “Application of Geographical Artificial Intelligence (GeoAI) in Socio-Economic and Environmental Research in the Context of Climate Change.”
In addition, EIU researchers and lecturers presented several papers, including: “Assessing Provincial Technical Efficiency in Vietnam: A Spatial Panel Stochastic Frontier Analysis Using Nighttime Light Data” (by authors Kang Seung Won and Nguyen Cong Thang); “Exploring the Possibility of Developing a Financial Center in Binh Duong: A Strategic Approach to Escaping the Middle-Income Trap” (by authors Vo Ngoc Thao Nguyen and Vu Thi Hong Nhung); “Foreign Direct Investment and the Current Environmental Situation in Binh Duong” (by authors Nguyen Bach Dang, Pham Thi Hong Nhung, and Phan Thi Nga); “Preliminary Research on the Perceived Quality of Life of Laborers in Binh Duong Province” (by authors Pham Thi Hong Nhung, Nguyen Bach Dang, Cao Thai Bao Nguyen, and Trinh Minh Anh).
