At the end of the second week of the orientation program, EIU freshmen of the 2025 cohort took part in essential skill-building classes while also experiencing the EIU Library. This series of activities was designed to help students quickly adapt to their new learning environment while equipping them with the necessary skills to study and grow effectively throughout their university journey.
Specifically, freshmen attended classes focusing on key learning methods. The English Learning Method class provided essential strategies for approaching the language proactively, enabling students to study and improve their English proficiency more easily and scientifically. Meanwhile, the Reading and Note-Taking Method class offered skills in processing, organizing, and retaining information effectively, thereby enhancing academic performance. The Presentation Method class, on the other hand, gave students the opportunity to practice public speaking, strengthen their communication abilities, and build confidence in expressing their own ideas.

In addition, students also took part in an EIU Library experience session—the “house of knowledge” that will accompany them throughout their university years. The Library not only offers a modern, green, and spacious learning environment but also serves as a vast treasure trove of resources, with thousands of books, newspapers, journals, and other academic materials to support learning and research. During the session, students were also introduced to procedures for borrowing and returning materials, booking group study rooms, printing services, and other library facilities.
Having access to these classes and experiences from the very beginning of their studies not only helps freshmen quickly adapt to university learning methods but also fosters self-study, critical thinking, and adaptability in a new environment. This serves as essential preparation for them to confidently embark on their journey of knowledge and success at EIU.
