Eastern International University Wins First Prize at the “Green Innovation Among Students 2025” Competition

Eastern International University (EIU) students won first prize at the “Green Innovation Among Students 2025” competition with their project titled “Smart Building Management System (SBMS) Towards NET ZERO at EIU.” The EIU team outperformed four other contenders from various educational institutions to claim the top award.

The competition was held as part of the Green Transformation Forum & Recycling Day 2025, jointly organized by the Association of High-Quality Vietnamese Goods Enterprises (HVNCLC), the Business Studies and Assistance Center (BSA), the HVNCLC – Integration Standards Program – BSAS, with support from Duy Tan Recycled Plastics JSC.

The SBMS is built on a modern software platform that monitors and collects data on electricity, water, temperature, and more. The system is integrated with hardware devices such as IoT sensors, air conditioner controllers, and E-standees, operating in real time. EIU’s Integrated Operations Center (IOC) visualizes the entire system through dashboards, maps, and 3D simulations, enabling efficient and transparent management and operations.

After three months of implementation, SBMS has helped EIU save 20–30% of electricity consumption through automation and smart device adjustments. The system also predicts equipment failures and manages a green zone of approximately 20,000 m², contributing to the absorption of about 0.5–10 tons of CO₂ per tree per year.

The project team shared that in 2026, they plan to propose to the University’s leadership to expand the project across the entire campus and move toward commercialization in the fields of education, healthcare, and industry.
